Not all the early families were like minded with the Lanes, the Blackmans, the Westcoats and the Swaims as to good citizenship. There were families who were opposed to churches and schools being established in the communities. (From "A Brief History Of Vinton County", by Louse Ogan Biggs) Moses & Hannah having married and raised their children in Dedham, Massachusetts area removed with their family from Massachusetts to Ohio, in 1833, while the children were still young, settled in Vinton County, Ohio purchasing 430 acres of land there on which he errected a beautiful residence and at the time of his death, 1844 he had one of the best improved farms in Vinton County.
