   General Notes:

The Johnsons originally came from Scotland. They were Protestants and Quakers. These are probably the eldest sons; John Johnson came to Virginia in 1696. He married Elizabeth Ellyson; John Johnson who was born in 1732 married Lydia Watkins; Samuel Johnson who was born in 1761 married Susanna Moorman; John Johnson who was born in 1800, married Martha Blaine; John Claice Johnson (James???) born in 1833 and married Sarah Ann Swangle and would be Dorothy Hansbrough Wilcoxen's great-grandparents. This is the direct Johnson line from 1695 to 1833. Sarah Ann Swangle was Pennsylvania Dutch and her parents were from germany. She had very brown eyes and dark hair. Great-grandfather Johnson had dark hair and blue eyes. Great Uncle Charley Johnson had dark brown eyes and dark hair. Uncle Tom Johnson was blond with blue eyes. Grandmother Martha Viola Johnson Hansbrough had brown eyes and dark hair. (Information received by Elsie Fowler Newman from Aunt Clara Hansbrough Spurgeon Jan. 20, 1980)

Martha married George Washington Hansbrough on 24 Dec 1886 in Blue Mound, Linn County, Kansas. (George Washington Hansbrough was born on 21 Nov 1859 in Vermillion Or Dougles County, Illinois and died on 30 Mar 1934 in Near Dierks Arkansas.)

   Marriage Notes:

At about 1900 or 1901, Viola gave birth to twin girls, one stillborn and the other living only a few hours.
