General Notes:
George Washington Hansbrough was born in Douglas or Vermillion County in Illinois and lost his mother, brothers, and sisters about 1860 during a severe smallpox epidemic in their part of the county when George was a baby less then a year old. The doctor vaccinated George and his father, and they survived the epidemic. He said there were hardly enough healthy people to dig graves for those who had died. The vaccinations saved quite a number. George is buried near Dierks Arkansas.
Marriage Information:
George married Martha Viola Johnson, daughter of James Cloice Johnson and Sarah Ann Swangle, on 24 Dec 1886 in Blue Mound, Linn County, Kansas. (Martha Viola Johnson was born on 18 Sep 1868 in Near New Home, Iowa and died on 24 Apr 1902 in Near Princeton, Kansas.)
Marriage Notes:
At about 1900 or 1901, Viola gave birth to twin girls, one stillborn and the other living only a few hours.
