General Notes:
The Johnsons on our Mother's side originally came from Scotland. They were Protestants and were Quakers. This is the direct Johnson line from 1696 to 1833, which are the dates of our great-grandparents. Aunt Demis Johnson said James Claice Johnson had a very serious Abdominal injury and there was no surgery to repair injuries like that during those early years. He lived for some time after that but the injury was the cause of his death. This information was handed down to Elsie Fowler Newman by Aunt Clara Spurgeon. Jan. 20, 1980
Marriage Information:
James married Sarah Ann Swangle on 22 Aug 1854 in Jamestown, Greene County, Ohio. (Sarah Ann Swangle was born on 14 Apr 1833 and died in 1899.)

They are buried in a cemetery in the vicinity of Blue Mound Kansas. She was living with Charley Johnson in Coloney Kansas at the time of her death.
