Ervin married Mary Izella Hansbrough, daughter of George Washington Hansbrough and Martha Viola Johnson, in Kansas. (Mary Izella Hansbrough was born on 16 Feb 1888 in Near Princeton, Kansas and died on 3 May 1922 in Borrego Valley, Sandiego County, California.)
